About the Journal

Introduction

Ilorin Journal of Administration and Development (IJAD) (ISSN: 2536-7358) is a peer-reviewed journal, published biannually (June and December) by the Department of Public Administration, University of Ilorin. IJAD provides a platform for researchers, academicians, professionals, and students to share knowledge through high-quality empirical, conceptual, and theoretical papers, case studies, and book reviews. The journal welcomes original manuscripts from all over the world in areas including, but not limited to: Public Administration, Public Policy and Management, Political Theory, International Relations, Human Resource Management, Community Development, Local Government Administration, Gender and Equity, Sustainable Development, ICT in the Public Sector, Public Financial Management, Industrial Relations and Conflict Resolution, Organizational Theory and Management, Economic and Social Development, and Socio-Cultural Issues in Development.

Peer Review Process

 Ilorin Journal of Administration and Development (IJAD) employs a double-blind peer review process to ensure impartial evaluation of manuscripts. Each submission is evaluated by two to three independent experts with relevant subject expertise. Reviews may take up to 3 months. Reviewers assess the manuscript for originality, methodological rigor, clarity, and relevance. Based on reviewer reports, the Editor-in-Chief makes a decision, which may be: accept, minor revisions, major revisions, or reject. Feedback is provided to authors for all decisions, and authors may respond to reviewer comments as part of the revision process.

Open Access Policy

IJAD is an Open Access journal, providing free and immediate access to all content online. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, allowing users to read, download, copy, distribute, and adapt the work, provided the original authors and source are properly credited. IJAD does not charge readers for access, and there are no embargo periods. This policy supports the widest possible dissemination of knowledge and research.

Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright of their work published in IJAD. By submitting to the journal, authors grant IJAD the right to publish and distribute their article under the CC BY license. This license allows others to share and adapt the work with proper attribution while ensuring that authors maintain ownership of their intellectual property. Any reuse of the content must include appropriate citation of the original source.

Ethical Guidelines

IJAD adheres to the highest standards of publication ethics, consistent with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. All authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to comply with the following:

  • Authorship: Only individuals who have made a significant intellectual contribution to the work should be listed as authors.
  • Plagiarism: Manuscripts must be original and free from plagiarism. Proper citation is required for all referenced work.
  • Conflicts of Interest: Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Research Ethics: For studies involving humans or animals, proper ethical approval and consent must be obtained and documented.
  • Corrections and Retractions: IJAD has a clear process for correcting errors, issuing retractions, or handling ethical breaches in published work.
  • Reviewer Ethics: Reviewers must maintain confidentiality and avoid any personal or professional conflicts of interest when evaluating manuscripts.

Article Processing Charges (APCs) 

Ilorin Journal of Administration and Development (IJAD) is an Open Access journal. Authors are required to pay a one-time Article Processing Charge (APC) of ₦20,000 per accepted article.

This fee covers:

  • Peer review management
  • Editorial processing
  • Online publication and archiving

The APC is payable only after the manuscript has been accepted for publication. Submission is free, and there are no hidden charges.

Archiving Policy

All articles published in the Ilorin Journal of Administration and Development (IJAD) are archived in the University of Ilorin Institutional Repository and backed up regularly by the journal’s hosting server. The journal also uses the OJS platform’s preservation features to ensure long-term access.

Repository Policy and Persistent Identifiers

Authors publishing in the Ilorin Journal of Administration and Development (IJAD) are permitted to deposit their accepted or published articles in their institutional repository or any other repository of their choice. This policy applies to all versions of the work permitted under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, allowing authors to maximize the visibility and dissemination of their research while retaining copyright.

To ensure long-term preservation and accessibility, all articles are archived in the University of Ilorin Institutional Repository and are regularly backed up by the journal’s hosting server. In addition, the journal leverages the OJS platform’s built-in preservation features to safeguard the content for future access.

At present, the journal does not use persistent article identifiers, such as DOIs, ARKs, or Handles. However, each article is assigned a unique internal OJS article ID to manage and reference content reliably within the journal system.
